Project Description

HSBC Digital Business Banking is seeking to introduce a digital repository of banking related documents to help customers and HSBC towards a sustainable business by reducing the need to send out and store paper documents. HSBC would like to gauge the appetite for Digital Vault to be provided to customers.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Conducting user research to understand the target audience, their needs, and behaviours.
  • Lead workshops with stakeholders to understand the business goals.
  • Create customer journey mapping to visualise and understand the end-to-end customer experience.
  • Developing interactive prototypes that allow for early testing of the user interface, helping to refine the design based on user feedback and requirements.
  • Designing the visual mock-ups as per HSBC brand guidelines & design system.
  • Gathering and acting on user feedback.

Primary user Goal

To efficiently and securely maintain a digital repository of banking-related documents, thereby simplifying document management, reducing the need for paper documents, and contributing to HSBC's sustainability efforts.

  • Users should be able to access their documents easily and quickly whenever needed.
  • Users want to maintain their digital documents in an organized manner, with features like folders or categories.
  • Aim to reduce the need for physical paper documents, aligning with HSBC's sustainability goals.
  • Create a user-friendly search and retrieval system to find specific documents in their vault.
  • Users want a safe and secure place to store their banking-related documents digitally.

User Research, Competitor Analysis & User Survey

My first step as a UX designer is understanding the complete business requirements and goals of a Digital Vault is indeed a crucial in the design process.

  • Initiated the meetings with key stakeholders, including product managers, business analysts, and executives to gather insights on the business objectives and long-term goals of the product.
  • I have conducted Initial user research and competitor analysis to understand how similar products or services in the market addressing the user needs & best practices they are follwing.
  • I have created Initial wireframes based on the findings and business requirements.
  • Conducted the user survey by presenting questionnaires and wireframes with the help of bva-bdrc.com gather early user feedback and make informed decisions to create a more user-centered and effective product.
Key Findings
  • Overall, the survey indicates that HSBC customers are open to embracing a digital document repository like the Digital Vault to manage their banking documents.
  • When rating the vault based on how useful it would be, over 8 in 10 businesses give a score of at least 8 out of 10.
